business cards

Filed under: design — michaelg @ 1:35 pm

Just ordered up a fresh batch of business cards that will have a glossy coating on the front and matte on the back. They will also have rounded corners. Got them from overnightprints.com, will let you know how they come out.

Keeping up

Filed under: photography, art — michaelg @ 7:42 pm

Well these past couple days have been going by quickly. The Indians crumbled to the Red Sox like a house of cards. Which of course just resulted in a lot of lost sleep. I shot the cover for Portfolio the monthly of the AAF chapter in Cleveland. During game four I ran downtown to try to get something interesting. Here is an outtake of that endeavour.

starting multiple creative paths

Filed under: design, photography — michaelg @ 6:57 am

As I am closing up some small projects and looking ahead to some fullfilling endevours. Here are some examples and keep an eye out for some changes soon!

First off I am looking to put together the cover for the november issue of AAF Cleveland. As I am seen as a photographer(narrow) rather than a creative(broad) I want this to stand as a statement that I can do more than just photography. Well that is the plan right now.
Secondly, I am going to pitch a ongoing story idea to the Plain Dealer. I pitched a similar idea to the Boston Globe about a year ago, they didn’t bite on it but three months later had a waterdown version of it out. So maybe this will work this time.
Thirdly, I am going to try to do an image a day journal similar to one I have enjoyed from a Toronto-based photographer Sam Javanrouh. Although just looking him up again I found another one that I really like to from a photographer/designer Tony Makepeace that has a video of the week(like that idea).

Changeover is finally successful

Filed under: Uncategorized — michaelg @ 9:55 am

Allright, I finally have the site back up and running after switching my web hosting company. The new host is host monster. They seem decent enough, they just updated their cpanel which is a relief. I didn’t go with dreamhost because of the large security breach with user information-just as I was looking. The blog was a little hard to set up because when I created my new account they gave me a different username than I thought and there was three databases in the cpanel. I just needed to find the correct combination of these(in other words 5 minutes to concentrate on it). This is also my first post since making the big move from Boston to Cleveland. Closer to family, lower cost of living,etc.. We are very excited for the change and look forward to some new challenges.
